Hanbury
Botanic Garden
In this residency, I find myself in one of the most beautiful gardens in the Mediterranean world. Created by Thomas Hanbury, an English botanist in the mid 19th century, it is a mature, exuberant 45 acres of splendor spilling down to the sea, with wisteria climbing the century-old cypress trees, orange and citrus groves, temples, monuments and steep vertical steps. Thomas and his brother Daniel traveled the world choosing exotic and rare plants with a visionary plan which includes an ancient palazzo in the center of the gardens, which has been restored by further generation of Hanburys. My art opening will be in this same palazzo on June 6th, and the exhibition will last for one month, until July 3rd, 2014. Note that this garden and palace was the set in the film "Grace of Monaco." http://www.giardinihanbury.com/
